What We Do!

Our goal in the pre-k/kdg room is to teach young students to love school! We want our students to be excited to come to school and explore. Our typical day includes working on task boxes designed to meet each student's specific goals; snack; group time during which we sing, read stories, learn rhymes and more; outside play time; gross motor activities; art; sensory room time; lunch; and rest time. Task boxes include puzzles, matching shapes, matching colors, using fine-motor skills to put items in or out, writing, letter-naming, and much more! The Unique Learning System curriculum guides our task boxes and group times so that the students' growth is being properly measured and assessed.

Our students learn independence while also getting the support they need to be successful. Students also get to interact with each other and the other students in the school during special activities every week. Students in our class also learn hygiene skills, such as washing hands and brushing teeth. Sometimes we even take field trips and explore our community! We also love walks and visiting local businesses.

We want to be the first stepping stone for our students as they begin a life-long journey of learning, communicating, and being a part of the world. We are so lucky to be able to spend time with these AMAZING young students!!
